Uttlesford's MP Sir Alan Haselhurst has been appointed chairman of the new West Anglia Task Force by Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.Formation of the group was announced in February by Chancellor George Osborne and Mayor of London Boris Johnson to pursue opportunities for improvement to the rail connections to Stansted Airport and Cambridge from Liverpool Street and Stratford along the West Anglia line.
