Historic England is giving a £5,000 grant towards work at Mountfitchet Castle in Stansted, which has links with Magna Carta.The money is for a project to consolidate and repair the medieval gatehouse and the castle earthworks.Loss of the building's corner blocks has exposed damaged masonry to the elements.
